What they Do
Introduce ice sports (ice hockey and figure skating) to youth in underserved communities and provide ongoing funding for participation.
Why I got involved
The NHL has the slogan “Hockey is For Everyone,” and while I believe that to be true, providing access to “everyone” is a lot easier said than done. The primary barrier to entry is the cost associated with ice sports and 24 Degrees of Color is helping offset those costs for families in underserved communities. A decade ago, my wife and I signed our son up for ice hockey when he was five years old. We knew nothing about the sport. We definitely had NO IDEA how expensive or time-consuming this sport would be for our entire family, but it’s been amazing to witness our child’s growth on the ice and (more importantly) off the ice. I want to help as many kids and families have the same opportunity that we had, so I chose to get involved with 24 Degrees.
